OHSC is the Overseas student health cover which students must maintain when studying here. There has been some confusion over this as it was just briefly covered at RMIT’s International student Orientation.

But basically…
In you first year you are not covered for pregnancies…. Disminatory I know but according to some of the student associations this is good news. This means no unplanned pregnancies and you can succeed in your studies
You may have to pay a difference as some places don’t do bulk billing or some of them do have in excess costs.
I also know of some students who are paid $37 in rebates.
RMIT uses Medibank but you can use other insurers such as BUPA and NIB whichever suits you.

For BUPA you can get three years OHSC for $1,199.88. They cover you for most hospital and dental care and ambulance cover should you need it.

(inclusive of GST)

For NIB you can get the same amount for $1111.15. Or you can buy their Extras plus for $3303.06.
