The Oxford Scholar Hotel

The Oxford Scholar Hotel has been around for years and its liked by many students, workers and tourists alike.
It is just next to the new SAB building at RMIT and the RMIT students frequent it for lunch and drinks. Drinks here are not too bad and I didn’t buy them. Someone in the Japan club bought them for me. That and the chips ($7 per bowl).

The waitstaff here are sure lovely and polite. I loved the lady with the Kiwi accent serving us. She was lovely.
The chips were nicely done and I shall be back for the meals.

This place is about five minutes walk from Flagstaff station (note: Flagstaff station is closed on weekends). If you want to go there during the weekend, you can take the free city circle tram from Melbourne Central station or a tram from Southern Cross station and get off at William st.
This is a pub that does $10/$15 meal deals especially on a weeknight and weekday lunchtimes. This deal is often featured on your dockets as well as the Entertainment book. I went there with my library group of twenty people and they were quite accommodating. The bill came out to be around $200, but because of my discount we only had to pay about $150. That is quite reasonable for a group of twenty people. Their meal portions are huge just like any other pub. I had the grilled wrap with chips for free, because of my entertainment book offer, so was happy with that and the quality of the food.
I wouldn’t mind coming again.
UPDATEED: They now have a 25% off Entertainment book voucher in the Entertainment book

The duke of Kent hotel

They cater for all types of diets, such as vegetarian and gluten free. Although their meals are $15, they have huge servings. Sorry they do not sell desserts. They only do pub meals.
The last two or three times that I went their food was great. They have chicken parmigiana, fish and chips, pasta and steak. It is not some glorified casino, instead it is a proper pub. I haven’t tried out any of their alcoholic drinks because I don’t drink alcohol, but I heard that it is pretty decent.
This is a good place to go to after work or after uni on a thursday night.
